Screed Technician

The Screed Technician is a skilled operator responsible for controlling the screed on the asphalt paver, ensuring the precise placement and finish of the new asphalt mat. You will progress to this role after gaining experience as a Paving Technician. Working in pairs, each technician controls the height of one side of the screed, carefully adjusting it to maintain the correct depth, grade, and surface texture. You will collaborate closely with the paving machine operator, coordinating their actions to achieve a smooth and consistent asphalt layer. Your ability to interpret grade stakes, understand asphalt flow, and react quickly to changing conditions is crucial for producing high-quality pavement. The Screed Technician plays a critical role in the overall success of the paving operation, ensuring the durability and smoothness of the finished road surface.
