The Paving Technician is the backbone of the paving crew, providing essential hands-on, skilled labor to ensure successful asphalt placement. You are responsible for a wide range of tasks, including using lutes, shovels, and tamping machines to shape and compact asphalt. You also operate tar pots for sealing joints and perform detailed finishing work. Duties may extend to supporting traffic control, ensuring a safe work environment for the crew and the public. Adaptability is key as you must be willing to assist in various roles to keep the project on schedule. Like all crew members, you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and proper functioning of tools and equipment. The Paving Technician plays a vital role in creating smooth, durable pavement, contributing to the overall quality and longevity of road construction projects.
